An unprecedented three-country musical collaboration. French-German-Filipino talents at its gangsta best!MAY 25 - JUNE 1, 2010
Rap in Tondo is a collaborative cultural and social project that aims to strengthen artistic exchange between Filipino and European artists and music professionals and to support the development of the Philippines' emerging music scene.
Supported by Alliance Francaise de Manille and Goethe Institut together with Tondo Asenso and 8Glasses Productions. This is an attempt at discovering and exploring common bonds between hiphop artists, bridging cultural differences, and forging meaningful ties through an artistic project.
Is music, particularly hip hop, an effective tool in establishing cross-cultural understanding among the youth?
This is what we seek to find out through this unprecedented endeavour.
This project will involve the inhabitants of Tondo, one of the most densely populated and poorest areas of land in the world, through various events (3- day workshop in Tondo from May 25 to 27, warm-up concerts and a final show in Tondo on May 29).
The highlight of the project will be a hip hop competition on the basketball field of Tondo involving Filipino, German and French artists, street children and Tondo dwellers.Source:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8GcDtpfEhE
Dubbed "Rap in Tondo," the project is spearheaded by the Goethe-Institut Manila and the Alliance Française de Manille and seeks to establish cultural exchange and cooperation between German, French and Filipino rap and hip-hop artists. For more news, features, videos go to www.philstar.com

Rap in Tondo is a social and a cultural project initiated by Goethe-Institut Manila and Alliance Française de Manille within the framework of the Elysée Treaty. From May 26 to May 29, 2010, French and German hip hop and rap artists (Les Coudes Productions) are coming to Manila to work together with Filipino ones (Tondo Tribe) from Tondo. Workshops, concerts, dance and DJ battles will be organized in collaboration with local partners and NGO’s.

Rap à Tondo est un projet social et culturel initié par l’Alliance Française de Manille et l’Institut Goethe de Manille dans le cadre du traité de l‘Elysée. Du 26 au 29 mai 2010, des artistes français et allemands de hip hop (Les Coudes Productions) sont à Manille pour travailler avec des rappeurs philippins (Tondo Tribe) du quartier de Tondo. Ateliers de chant, de danse et de mix dj, concerts et compétitions de danse sont organisés en collaboration avec des partenaires et des ONG locaux.
